Troy Weathers was born and raised in Cleveland, the youngest of nine children. He attended Mayfield, East Cleveland, and Michigan Avenue elementary schools. Troy graduated in 1979 from Bradley County High School.

Troy understands the value of hard work. He went to work at Kentucky Fried Chicken when he was just 15. Troy was promoted to manager at KFC and worked until he graduated. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and received basic training at Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri. Troy became a tank mechanic and was stationed at Fort Stuart, Georgia.

Troy took the skills learned in the military to work as a maintenance supervisor for a truck line until he opened his own small business. He later was hired by Wholesale Supply Group where he spent nearly 30 years. Troy retired in 2020 as Vice President of Distribution.

Troy’s passion for education was sparked while serving as PTA President at his daughter’s school—Michigan Avenue Elementary. He was elected to the Bradley County School Board five times and served as Chairman for much of his tenure.

Troy and his wife, Nikki, have three daughters between them and two grandsons. Nikki, Troy’s daughter, Amanda, and two of his sons-in-law are public school teachers. The Weathers are members of Crossroads Community Church where Troy serves on the Set Up team.
